Chrome Keeps Signing You Out Between Pages? Check Cookie Behavior
Find whether a site session is lost on one page or across linked sign-in domains.
Try the same site in a regular Chrome window and watch when you are signed out. If it happens while moving between related sign-in pages, inspect that site’s cookie permission. Chrome’s third-party cookie controls can affect cross-site sign-in; allow a temporary exception only for a site you trust.
Pin down when the sign-out happens
First distinguish a session that ends after you close Chrome from one that ends immediately when you follow a link. The first points toward cookies or site data not persisting; the second can involve related domains used for sign-in. Write down the exact page transition so you do not reset unrelated browser settings.
- Test in a regular window; third-party cookies are blocked by default in Incognito.
- Check whether the site uses a separate identity or payment domain.
- Test another account site to see whether the issue is site-specific.
Review cookies for the affected site
Chrome’s cookie controls include a temporary option to allow third-party cookies for the current site and a site exception list. If a trusted service uses a separate sign-in domain, a short site-specific test can show whether that restriction is involved. Reload and repeat the same sign-in flow after the change.
Do not broadly allow third-party cookies just to troubleshoot one service. If the site-specific test fails, remove the exception and continue with the site’s own account support.
If the account still loses its session
Check whether an extension is deleting cookies or whether you manually clear site data on exit. A managed browser may enforce cookie rules you cannot change. If one website alone is affected, share the transition and Chrome’s observed cookie setting with its support team; the site may have a session problem of its own.
