CS2 God Mode vs Buddha Command in Practice

CS2 has more than one in-game survival/debugging option. God and Buddha are easy to confuse, but they do not describe exactly the same simulation behavior.

⚡ QUICK ANSWER

On a permitted local server with sv_cheats 1, god is commonly documented as an invulnerability toggle. buddha 1 is a different mode that can allow the simulated player to take damage while preventing health from falling below a minimum. Run buddha 0 to disable Buddha; check your build’s console feedback for God’s toggle behavior.

Find your situation

Choose the closest situation. The next step depends on whether the issue is command syntax, server permission or the effect you expected.

God mode: a protected debug toggle, subject to the current CS2 build and local-server permissions.

Step-by-step guide

Follow these checks in order and stop when your private practice setup works. Expand any step for more context.

1
Use a controlled local test

Load an offline practice map you own.

2
Enable protected settings

Run
sv_cheats 1
in the local server console.

3
Choose the behavior you intend

Use Buddha to preserve a minimum simulated health value, or God for an invulnerability-style toggle.

4
Check the console for accepted syntax

Try the documented form only in your private map.

5
Keep your test variables separate

Avoid enabling several survival or regeneration tools at once.

6
Return to ordinary practice when finished

Disable Buddha and toggle off other debug protection you enabled.

Commands to copy

These are virtual Counter-Strike 2 console commands for local/private game sessions. The Copy buttons put the literal command on your clipboard.

Permit local debug commands
sv_cheats 1

Needed for protected practice mode.

Enable Buddha
buddha 1

Health can be reduced while the character remains in the test.

Disable Buddha
buddha 0

Returns Buddha to off.

God mode toggle
god

Availability and exact effect may vary by game build.

Optional health regeneration
sv_regeneration_force_on 1

A separate mechanism; do not mix into baseline comparison.

God, Buddha and regeneration are three different things

The differences are about the simulated character state.

GODInvulnerability-style

Generally prevents damage from lowering player health.

BUDDHASurvival floor

Health can drop but the test is not interrupted by death.

REGENERATIONRestoration over time

Allows damage then replenishes health according to game rules.

Sources conflict about whether God was replaced completely in CS2. Current community-maintained lists still include both commands; articles should not declare that one no longer exists without build-specific evidence.

Important limits

Only a virtual practice mechanic

These are fictional in-game debugging flags. They do not change real-world safety or grant permissions on public servers.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to common questions about this specific CS2 practice command.

Is Buddha identical to God?

No. Buddha generally permits simulated health reduction to a floor; God is an invulnerability-style toggle.

How do I switch Buddha off?

Use buddha 0.

Was God removed from CS2?

Some guides claim it was replaced, while current command lists still document god. Verify your own build.

Do these commands work in ranked CS2?

No. They require permissions on a privately controlled server.

Why is it hard to tell which effect is active?

Multiple debug health or regeneration tools can overlap, so compare them one at a time.
