If AutoDrive refuses to start, it is usually one of three things: the wrong road, combat still active, or a vehicle state issue. Start with the controls card below, then check the easy troubleshooting list.
Check the activation binds.
These are the first controls to verify before assuming AutoDrive is broken.
Do this in order.
Follow the simplest path first.
Get onto a normal road.
AutoDrive behaves best on paved streets and highways, not awkward parking positions or off-road terrain.
Clear combat and police pressure.
If you are in combat, under chase pressure, or mid-scripted action, the feature may not engage.
Check vehicle condition.
Heavily damaged vehicles can interrupt the feature. Repair or resummon the vehicle if needed.
Hold the correct bind.
Use G on PC or Left Stick on console. Then use Q / D-Pad Right for the cinematic camera view.
Destination vs free roam.
Patch 2.31 changed how the two AutoDrive modes feel.
Destination Mode
When you set a destination, AutoDrive can be more aggressive, overtaking traffic and ignoring red lights to reach the marker faster.
Free Roam Mode
Without a destination, the vehicle is more relaxed and tends to behave like a sightseeing cruise, following traffic more closely.
FAQ.
Why does nothing happen when I press G?
Check whether you remapped the action, whether you are on a proper road, and whether combat or heavy damage is blocking the feature.
Does Cinematic Camera steer the car for me?
No. AutoDrive handles movement; the cinematic camera only changes the viewpoint.
Can bikes use AutoDrive too?
Availability depends on the specific update behavior and vehicle context; the easiest test is still using your owned vehicle on a calm road.
Checked, not guessed.
