Turn Visualize Sound Effects ON, Apply, then test in an active match.
From the lobby open your profile icon → Settings → Audio → Visualize Sound Effects → ON → Apply. Test near an appropriate sound source: the radial display does not show every sound. If the option is already on but the indicators have vanished, restart Fortnite. Epic has acknowledged an issue affecting visual sound effects and suggested Performance Mode as a temporary workaround on supported PC setups.
What is missing on your screen?
The absence of all radial cues differs from one particular sound cue not appearing.
4 easy things to try, in order
Do not confuse accessibility visual cues with your headset volume or voice-chat settings.
Find the official Audio setting
At the lobby click your profile icon → Settings → Audio, turn Visualize Sound Effects ON and select Apply. Epic documents these steps for the radial indicator. Some modes may label menus differently.
You must apply the change; simply opening the toggle is not enough.
Test with an appropriate sound source
Enter a supported match and approach an obvious sound event, such as movement by another nearby player. Different audio events may have different thresholds and not every sound must produce a visual cue. Confirm your actual game audio is working separately.
If only a particular event is absent, the entire feature may not be broken.
Restart and consider Epic’s current visual-effects workaround
If radial cues stay missing after a restart, check Epic’s known-issue guidance. Epic has reported visual sound-effect indicators behaving incorrectly; its documented temporary workaround is switching to Performance Mode where available on PC. Understand that this changes visual quality.
Do not switch renderer just for a single missing cue without ruling out normal behavior.
Report persistent missing cues with clear details
If the setting is ON and repeatable cues remain missing, document platform, game mode, rendering mode and a short clip. Use Epic’s support or bug-report channels. Avoid custom HUD mods or third-party overlays that claim to restore built-in accessibility indicators.
A reproduction clip is more useful than reinstalling blindly.
The indicator may omit some sounds by design or due to an issue. Use game audio and other cues while troubleshooting.
Important visualizer distinctions
What is missing tells you which setting layer to inspect.
Option OFF or not applied
The radial indicator may be absent until enabled and saved.
Only one type of sound is missing
Not every audio event creates the same visual cue.
Problem started with graphics changes
Epic has documented a renderer-related workaround for a visual-effects issue.
Audio also cuts out
Troubleshoot output routing separately from visual indicators.
