Check whether the FOV control you found applies to Ballistic first-person.
Epic documents FOV Minimum and FOV Maximum in Fortnite Game settings, but that does not prove every first-person Ballistic view can be freely adjusted. First confirm that you are in Ballistic, check current Game settings, and compare whether the change is visible in supported perspectives. If the view in Ballistic does not respond, do not force unofficial camera modifications; the mode may apply its own limits. Report an unexpected change with the exact platform and setting values.
Is the control missing, or does it simply have no effect?
General game FOV settings and dedicated first-person camera behavior may differ.
4 simple checks, in the right order
Start with the fastest reversible test, then move to the next check only if the symptom remains.
Confirm which FOV setting you are looking at
In Fortnite open Settings, then the Game tab and find FOV Minimum and FOV Maximum if they are available. Note the values before editing. These are documented Fortnite settings, not a guarantee of a fully adjustable Ballistic first-person camera.
Avoid assuming guides for third-person perspective apply to Ballistic.
Test whether Ballistic actually reacts to the change
Try a small reversible change, apply it, then compare a consistent scene in Ballistic with another supported camera view. If only a third-person view changes, the first-person view may be governed differently. Do not keep forcing extreme slider values to hunt for a difference.
The lack of visible change is useful diagnostic information.
Rule out a settings-save failure
After adjusting a setting, return to the menu and check whether the selected value was saved. If all game settings reset after restart, investigate configuration permissions or a general settings-sync problem. If only Ballistic ignores the value, treat that as a mode-specific question.
A save problem and a camera limit are not the same issue.
Report an unexpected regression, not a presumed missing feature
If Ballistic previously responded to a setting on the same platform and no longer does, note the game build, platform, mode and before/after values. Check Epic support or current release notes. Avoid using third-party FOV unlockers that modify game files or camera code.
Keep all troubleshooting within supported game menus.
External game-file patches or camera injections can create compatibility and account risks. Missing Ballistic controls are not a reason to bypass the game client.
If the first four checks do not help
Use these specific clues to avoid unnecessary changes.
Only third-person FOV changes
The Ballistic first-person camera may have its own view behavior.
Every setting reverts after restart
Investigate normal settings-save problems rather than a Ballistic-specific bug.
A guide shows a slider you cannot find
It may refer to a different season, platform or perspective.
You are playing a Creative first-person island
Creator camera-device settings can differ from dedicated Ballistic mode.
