Confirm aim assist is enabled and gyro is not overriding it.
Open Settings → Controller Options → Sensitivity and review the available Advanced Options and Aim Assist Strength controls. Epic notes that gyro aiming can disable aim assist when active. Then compare the same controller and game mode with stable FPS and the same look sensitivity. Feeling different after a patch is not proof of an undocumented global nerf.
What changed about aiming?
Different symptoms can come from settings, latency, drift or an intentional gameplay update.
4 easy things to try, in order
Use a repeatable test rather than changing several sensitivities at once.
Inspect the supported aim-assist setting
Open Fortnite Controller settings. Under Sensitivity, enable Advanced Options if offered and review Aim Assist Strength. Apply any change. Settings vary across devices; use only the controls actually exposed by your platform and current version.
Epic documents the aim assist control, but not every platform exposes identical options.
Check gyro aiming and frame-time delay
If your device offers gyro aiming, test it disabled: Epic states aim assist is disabled while gyro is active. If fights feel delayed rather than less assisted, watch for FPS drops and test a stable frame cap before retuning aim.
Latency can make aiming feel different without changing the assist algorithm.
Compare controller hardware and sensitivity cleanly
Test an unchanged practice scenario, then compare wired input or another controller if available. Look for stick drift, deadzone changes or third-party remapping software on PC. Change only one sensitivity option between rounds.
Changing sensitivity, deadzones and remapping simultaneously makes results meaningless.
Check patch notes and report a reproducible difference
If controls and performance are stable but multiple players reproduce the same sudden change, check current Fortnite patch notes and official known issues. Capture platform, mode, settings and a brief test clip for support.
Do not advertise any unverified “secret aim assist fix” or third-party macro.
Use Fortnite’s supported settings. External scripts can violate game rules and make input diagnostics worse.
Why the feeling can change
Aim feel reflects more than the strength slider.
Gyro active on supported platform
Epic says aim assist is disabled during gyro aiming.
Only one PC controller is affected
Check remapping software and extra input layers.
Aim is harder during frame drops
Frame-time inconsistency may mimic reduced responsiveness.
Settings reset following a patch
Restore only the values you know were previously saved.
Still need help?
If these checks did not solve it, record the exact symptoms, platform, and what each test changed before contacting official support.
