Fortnite Reboot Van Card Pickup Prompt Not Appearing

First identify whether the teammate card is absent or your Use/Interact input is failing. That tells you whether to troubleshoot the prompt or the mode.

The quick answer

Test the Use/Interact binding before assuming the reboot card vanished.

If a reboot card can be seen but there is no pickup prompt, approach it from a clear angle and test the normal Use/Interact action. Epic has acknowledged some pickup interactions fail when Sprint and Use are bound to the same input, and suggests restoring default binds as a workaround. Also confirm the selected playlist actually uses reboot-card pickup and that a valid card has spawned.

What exactly is missing?

An absent card, a hidden prompt and a nonworking button are not identical.

Simple checklist

4 simple checks, in the right order

Start with the fastest reversible test, then move to the next check only if the symptom remains.

01

Check for conflicting Sprint and Use bindings

Open Fortnite control settings and inspect Use/Interact and Sprint mappings. Epic reports custom bindings with Sprint and Use on the same input can prevent picking up items. Note your current settings, then use Restore to Default for a brief test if appropriate.

One conflicting input can affect cards, items and other interactions.

02

Confirm the mode and whether a valid card exists

Check if the current experience supports reboot-card collection, the card has appeared, and its pickup period has not ended. Special modes can use different respawn rules. Do not diagnose missing pickup UI in a playlist with no standard cards.

Mode rules can change whether a card or van prompt exists at all.

03

Test Use on a normal interactable object

Try a standard chest, door or pickup with the same control. If those prompts fail too, troubleshoot your Use binding and input device. If only one card is affected, approach it from a different clear side and note if geometry blocks the interaction.

A normal interaction test separates a keybind issue from one object bug.

04

Restart the match and report a repeatable bug

If the prompt fails with default binds across multiple standard matches, restart Fortnite and capture a short clip showing card position, mode, platform and button assignment. Submit it to Epic as a gameplay interaction issue.

Do not depend on third-party overlays or scripts to force a prompt.

Do not overwrite your controls without recording them first.

Default-bind testing is reversible, but it can disrupt a custom layout. Note important input settings before restoring them.

Specific errors

If the first four checks do not help

Use these specific clues to avoid unnecessary changes.

Only the card prompt is missing

Review game mode, card position and card availability.

Doors and pickups fail too

A broader Use/Interact input problem is more likely.

Works with default binds

Rebuild only the conflicting custom input mapping.

Works in BR but not a custom island

The island may have custom respawn and pickup rules.
