Unlock and prepare

The quest begins with Penny in Hogsmeade once story progression and the seasonal trigger allow it. Originally a PlayStation exclusive, the haunted-shop content later became available on additional platforms.

Before entering, equip a versatile set: a red damage spell, a purple Force spell, a yellow Control spell, a healing supply and a reliable defensive option. The dungeon is visually confusing but its steps are finite.

Room-by-room walkthrough

Atrium: carry each floating lantern into the matching hand fixture. If the corridor shifts, retrace to the last lit doorway instead of running in circles.

Library and mannequin corridors: use Lumos, check the next open doorway and protect yourself when mannequins activate.

Chess-board floor: cast Revelio to identify unsafe squares and cross via the stable tiles.

Foyer and flipped rooms: follow the doorway as gravity and layout change; moving slowly makes the reverse-room illusion much easier.

Fastidio’s Monster: block or dodge incoming attacks, deal damage between attacks and adapt during the temporarily inverted-control phase.

Cassandra Mason: after returning to Penny, speak with Officer Singer and finish the last encounter to take control of the shop.

Inverted controls: no panic method

During the inversion, the view flips. Use very small directional inputs rather than trying to run across the room. Keep the enemy in view, dodge deliberately and focus on surviving until normal orientation returns.

There is no need to speed-run. The dungeon has checkpoints, and the final merchant reward is not dependent on finishing a boss within a timer.

After the quest

  • Return to Penny and choose your shop’s name.
  • Sell unwanted gear at your Hogsmeade shop as desired.
  • If a door does not react, verify both lanterns are attached to their holders before continuing.
