Solved by the Bell: Clagmar Castle Nine-Bell Puzzle Order

Solve the Musical Map puzzle in Hogwarts Legacy with a numbered nine-bell diagram, eight-hit checklist, and clear chest-recovery steps.

Updated October 20, 20267 min readEasy steps

This side quest begins when you find the Musical Map in Henrietta’s Hideaway. The treasure puzzle itself is at Clagmar Castle. There are nine bells but only eight actions in the correct sequence, so don’t treat every bell as a required hit.

Quick Answer

Travel to Clagmar Castle in the far southeast. Find the bells within the ruins, face both columns, and hit the bells with Basic Cast in this exact order: 2 → 5 → 7 → 6 → 5 → 9 → 8 → 6, numbering them from lowest to highest. When the sequence succeeds, a reward chest appears. Open it to finish the quest.

Tap the next bell to practise the order

This is a numbered schematic, not a screenshot. Numbering counts upward from the lowest bell (1) to the highest (9); it works even if the columns look slightly different on your screen.

Tap the bell numbers in sequence or use Next Hint to see which bell comes next.
First target: Bell 2 (second from bottom).

How to Solve It in Three Easy Steps

1

Collect the Musical Map

Enter Henrietta’s Hideaway in the Manor Cape area. Progress through the dungeon, clear the combat chamber, and enter the hidden side room. Pick up the Musical Map from the table to begin the quest.

2

Reach the bells at Clagmar Castle

Fast travel to Clagmar Castle Floo Flame in Clagmar Coast or fly there. Find the hanging bells within the ruined courtyard, near the raised wooden platform. Clear nearby enemies if they interrupt your aiming.

3

Ring the eight targets, then loot the chest

Use Basic Cast to strike 2 → 5 → 7 → 6 → 5 → 9 → 8 → 6 as numbered from bottom to top. The game recognizes the finished pattern and a new chest appears nearby. Open the chest to receive the Treasure-Seeker’s Longcoat appearance.

If the Bells Don’t Unlock the Chest

No sound or no response?

Check that you’re using Basic Cast on the hanging bells, not a spell wheel ability, and that enemies aren’t interrupting you.

Wrong order?

Restart the eight hits from the first bell. Your bell numbering may differ from guides that number each column independently.

Correct tune but no chest?

Look immediately beside the platform and nearby ruins. The chest appears after the short puzzle response finishes.

Quest not active?

Make sure you picked up the Musical Map from Henrietta’s Hideaway first. The clue and chest form part of the side quest.
