The quick answer
Log out everywhere, then secure unfamiliar sessions.
Riot identifies VAL 5 as an account logged into elsewhere and recommends logging out of all devices. If you do not recognize the other session, change your password and enable multi-factor authentication after signing everyone out.
Jump into the guide01Compare the symptoms
Temporary client/session conflict
Happened immediately after internet interruption or switching PCs? This may be a stale login state, but VAL 5 alone cannot prove the cause.
Unexpected active login
Repeated kicks, unfamiliar security notices or activity, or a session on a device you do not recognize deserve account-security checks.
02Force sign-out all active sessions
Open the official Riot account page
Sign in at account.riotgames.com.
Find the Login Management card
Choose LOG OUT EVERYWHERE. Riot says this signs out other devices and removes trusted-device status.
Reset your password if the login was unfamiliar
Use a unique password, secure the linked email, and confirm multi-factor authentication is active.
Restart Riot Client and sign in again
Test once on your primary PC; avoid rapidly logging in on several devices at the same time.
03Avoid unnecessary fixes
- Do not reinstall the game to solve a login ownership conflict until session controls have been checked.
- Check Riot service status only if several players are reporting similar session failures.
- If you cannot access Login Management or suspect an intrusion, use Riot account recovery and support.
Frequently asked questions
Is VAL 5 proof someone hacked my account?
No. The error points to a session logged in elsewhere; investigate unfamiliar devices and alerts without assuming compromise.
Will LOG OUT EVERYWHERE revoke trusted-device status?
Yes. Riot describes this behavior in its account security documentation.
