True Aerondight Remastered is an actual October 2026 Nexus release. It changes the charge mechanic, crit behavior, life-steal stats and Witcher-gear set eligibility. The normal and Uncapped downloads are different, so you must choose one.
Vanilla Aerondight loses charge stacks when hit and has its traditional progression limits. The mod keeps stacks when hit, adds +10% damage per charge up to 10, gives +25% crit chance at full charge in a normal playthrough, and adds life steal and Witcher-set counting. Only the separate Uncapped variant removes the per-level permanent-damage cap.
Use the steps in order. Back up saves and settings before modding or switching renderers.Step-by-step guide
Choose Regular or Uncapped
Open the creator’s Files tab and install exactly one mechanics variant. Regular uses +1 permanent damage per full-charge kill with a cap of 100 per level. Uncapped removes that maximum. NG+ has different values.
Install the mechanics archive
Extract the selected archive into the Witcher 3 root directory, merging the provided mods and dlc folders. This release uses annotated scripts and does not need Script Merger for its own files.
Avoid competing Aerondight item overhauls
Do not combine with another mod editing Aerondight’s Blood and Wine relic weapon XML. Optional visual packs are separate and require only one color variant.
Validate charges in a controlled fight
Observe the sword’s charge level before and after taking one hit. At full charge check the crit tooltip and set-bonus count. If any stat differs, review whether a different mod overrides the item definition.
What to try next
If your result differs, verify the game version and feature support, restore a clean baseline, and repeat the test with just one changed setting or mod at a time.
Frequently asked questions
Does the mod remove charge loss on taking damage?
Yes. The creator says hits do not remove stacks; instead one charge decays every five seconds without attacking.
Is permanent damage truly uncapped by default?
No. The regular variant still has a cap. The separate Uncapped download removes that cap.
How much life steal does it grant?
According to the mod page, 25% in the main game and 35% in NG+.
Can it complete a 6-piece Grandmaster set?
The mod page says Aerondight counts as a piece of any worn Witcher set, enabling a five-piece armor arrangement plus the sword to reach six.
