Aerondight can improve alongside your character if its charge reaches ten and the decisive moment occurs before the charges expire. The displayed maximum permanent damage rises with Geralt’s level, so there is no universal “every 45 seconds” result.

● Quick Answer

Each fast hit adds one charge; a strong hit can add two. At 10 charges, a qualifying enemy defeat grants +2 permanent base damage, up to the weapon’s level-based cap. Charges can be lost when Geralt takes damage or time passes.

Taking damage or waiting too long can reduce stored charges. The character-level upgrade cap still applies.

Clear walkthrough

Do it in this order

01

Earn Aerondight in There Can Be Only One

Complete the five chivalric virtues in Toussaint and collect the reward.

02

Read its current maximum-damage cap

Inspect the weapon details to see how much permanent growth remains.

03

Choose suitable repeatable encounters

Try open-world paths near water or hills where enemies reappear; bear spawns and routes vary by version.

04

Keep defenses active and observe the counter

Avoid losing accumulated charges from taking damage.

05

Trigger permanent growth at a full charge

The game requires a qualifying finish at full charge; the stat display confirms the upgrade.

06

Stop once the current cap is reached

Raise your character level to increase the weapon’s available long-term growth.

Don’t assume an enemy will always survive long enough for ten charges, and don’t claim a fixed forty-five-second farming rate. Turn Enemy Upscaling down or off only if it helps your own setup.
